What part of your routine do you always try to skip if you can?

Sometimes the best part of our day is what we choose not to skip

I try to skip my business routine during my prayer times and my precious sleep during my early morning prayers.

We all have parts of our daily routine that we would gladly skip if we could. For some people, it might be their morning alarm or their evening workout. But for me, the answer is different and deeply personal.

Prayer Takes Priority

When it comes to my prayer times, I make a conscious effort to skip my business routine. No matter how busy my day gets or how many meetings are on my calendar, I pause everything when it’s time to pray. Emails can wait. Phone calls can be returned later. The business world will keep turning without me for those few precious minutes.

This is not about avoiding work. It’s about understanding what truly matters. Prayer is my way of connecting with something greater than myself, finding peace in the middle of chaos, and remembering my purpose beyond profit and productivity.

The Value of Early Morning Sleep

But here’s where it gets interesting. While I skip business for prayer during the day, I also skip something else for my early morning prayers: my sleep. Yes, that warm, comfortable bed and those extra minutes of rest are tempting. Early morning sleep is precious. It’s the deepest, most restful kind of sleep.

Yet, I choose to wake up early for prayer. There’s something special about those quiet morning hours before the world wakes up. The peace, the silence, the feeling of starting your day with gratitude and reflection โ€“ it’s worth more than those extra minutes of sleep.

The Bigger Picture

What we choose to skip says a lot about what we value. I could easily skip prayer to finish one more task or stay in bed to get one more hour of rest. But those choices would mean missing something far more valuable โ€“ moments of connection, reflection, and spiritual growth.

So yes, I try to skip my business routine during prayer times, and I try to skip my precious sleep for early morning prayers. These are the things I’m willing to miss because they make room for what I never want to miss: time with my Creator, moments of peace, and a day that starts with purpose.
