The Closest Tourist Attraction Iโ€™ve Never Visited: My Own Kitchen

Itโ€™s right there. Itโ€™s famous. People visit it daily. Yet somehow, Iโ€™ve managed to avoid it like itโ€™s a haunted monument.

When people ask about an attraction close to home that I still havenโ€™t visited, they usually expect some hidden hill station, old fort, or underrated temple. But let me be honest โ€” the one place I truly havenโ€™t explored properly is my own kitchen.

Yes, that sacred space where food magically appears twice a day without me knowing how.

My kitchen is just a few steps away, but mentally it feels like a long-distance trip that requires planning, courage, and emergency snacks. I mostly visit it like a tourist โ€” briefly, confused, and only when Iโ€™m extremely hungry. I open the fridge, stare inside like Iโ€™m expecting new items to spawn automatically, and then quietly leave.

I know the kitchen has many โ€œattractionsโ€: the stove that looks dangerous, the spice rack that smells like adventure, and vessels that seem to multiply overnight explainable only by science fiction. Yet, Iโ€™ve never truly explored it. I donโ€™t know where half the things are kept, and Iโ€™m convinced the pressure cooker has personal anger issues.

Cooking, for me, is less of a skill and more of a survival game. One wrong move and the smoke alarm becomes the main attraction of the house. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™ve stayed away โ€” not out of laziness, but out of concern for public safety.

So while others travel miles to discover new places, I still havenโ€™t conquered the most basic attraction near me. Maybe someday Iโ€™ll finally visit my kitchen properly, cook a full meal, and return safely to tell the tale.

Until then, this nearby attraction remains officially unvisited. ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ˜„
